The North Shore Waterfront Conservancy of Staten Island, Inc. (NSWCSI) is looking for able-bodied participants for an on-site training program in partnership with NYC Parks.
For the past 7 years NSWC volunteers have been cleaning debris from abandon city-owned waterfront properties on the north shore of Staten Island. The waterfront sites include: Bard Avenue, Port Richmond Avenue, Van Name and Van Pelt; Snug Harbor Cultural Center Esplanade and Fort Wadsworth.
An anticipated project with NYC Parks Department will address various waterfront sites for clean-up and wetland restoration. The NSWC BlueStreets Program offers Community Service Credits to all participants.
Gloves, tools, supplies, and refreshments will be provided.
*Clothing: These sites are in wooded areas along the waterfront were poison ivy may grow. Long sleeve tops, long pants, sturdy shoes, a cap or hat to block the sun and sun block/sun screen are strongly suggested.
No shorts, tank tops, short sleeves or sandals are permitted at the clean up sites.
